Well, they didn't recruit Devan Downey his freshman year, but he transfered and played here from '07 to '09.

They can’t say he wasn’t a top 50 player. He was first team All-SEC.

Downey was a beast, but if his Cincinnati experience was a little better he may not have ever made it to South Carolina.

We've had a few right outside the top 50, but yeah, we've had a major dearth of talent over the past few years.

Which does a lot to explain how crappy we’ve played outside of the random good season here and there.

I wonder why we have so much trouble? Nice arena, good local talent, etc. We don’t have a very good history since the early 70s, but that’s never stopped the football team from recruiting well.
