As expected, the Gamecocks will be hosting a regional. Stay tuned tomorrow to see who will be joining us and if we get a national seed. Clemson, also as expected, was not selected to host, so we may see them in Columbia. I expect they're headed to Coastal's regional, though.

Geographical diversity

Congrats on hosting, even though I know it wasn’t a surprise.

Being somewhat substantially extremely biased on this topic I’m eager to hear other fans’ take on this “geographical diversity” thing. Obviously our fans are ape**** now that it’s hurt Vanderbilt.

My contention is that it’s more sensible to be upset ahead of time; an unfair policy isn’t more unfair just because it’s my team getting screwed. But I suppose it was certain that some team’s fans would be raising holy hell over this policy today. Since that role appears to have fallen to us, may as well embrace it.

I think your vitriol is well founded enough...

Saying they’ll pick host spots by geographical diversity is basically the NCAAs way of saying that in some cases they’re going to pick spots for financial reasons rather than merit. I’m against that in any case. Programs like Vandy’s put too much into producing a successful season to see their shot at advancing to Omaha made less likely so the NCAA can gain a better foothold in places that otherwise wouldn’t host.
