A week and a half after appearing to have eliminated the Gamecocks from consideration, Poona Ford has set up an official visit to South Carolina for the weekend of Jan. 24 and might even commit during the trip.
"It just kind of happened," Ford said. "It's close to home." Ford said his grandmother will join him on the visit. And while saying that he doesn't have a favorite of his final three of USC, Texas, and Missouri, Ford said a commitment to USC this weekend is possible if everything goes well. He is scheduled to visit Missouri on January 31st.
Ford was had been committed to Louisville since Aug. 6 but backed off that pledge when Charlie Strong left the Cardinals to take the Texas job. Ford visited Austin on Jan. 17 and industry experts currently expect him to become a Longhorn.

Ford canceled a plan trip to Oregon to make room for his visit to South Carolina. As if to further underscore the weirdness of this entire process, Ford will also be visiting Purdue (PURDUE!) on Jan. 26 before making his last official visit to Columbia, Mo. on Jan. 31.
