In what is becoming a running theme of the summer, the South Carolina Gamecocks beat out NC State for yet another commitment Tuesday morning. This time it was junior college defensive tackle Jabari Ellis, who announced he would be returning to his home state to play college ball.

Originally from Santee, SC, Ellis suited up for Lake Marion High School before enrolling at Georgia Military College in 2016. His high school play was strong enough to merit an offer from Miami, but grades were an issue and he was forced to go the junior college route.

Will Muschamp’s hopes are that Ellis, along with Dantrell Barkley (another recent commit), will immediately make an impact on the interior of the defensive line when they enroll in 2018.

As a freshman at GMC, Ellis had 14 tackles and four for loss. You can view his mid-season highlights here.

He is on track to be an early enrollee and will have three years to play two.
