Though the Gamecocks (5-3) lost on Sunday, they won on Friday and Saturday to take the series over a good Wright State team. South Carolina will return to action as they host the Appalachian State Mountaineers this afternoon in Founders Park. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series with the Mountaineers 13-1.
Appalachian State is 4-3 after sweeping Gardner-Webb last weekend. The Mountaineers opened the season with the Hughes Brothers Tournament, where they went 1-3 after splitting a pair of games with VMI and losing to George Mason and UNCW.
