This particular preview will be a little shorter, because we know all about the Florida Gators - having seen the South Carolina Gamecocks play them twice and going 1-1 in the regular season. This time, though, there’s so much more at stake. For the Gamecocks, a first ever trip to the Final Four is forty minutes away. For the Gators, a sixth trip to the national semifinal is still in play, after a Chris Chiozza buzzer-beater in overtime powered them to a stirring 84-83 win against Wisconsin.
What we don’t know is the complexion of this game. Will it be a repeat of the Gamecocks’ 57-53 win at Colonial Life Arena that saw the Gators miss all seventeen of their three-point attempts in what turned out to be a defensive slugfest? Will we see more of the style of game that we saw when the Gators avenged their SEC foe with an 81-66 win that saw them sink nine threes and KeVaughn Allen outduel Sindarius Thornwell with 26 points? Or will there be a little more of a balance between the two as Florida looks to keep the momentum and emotions of one of the most dramatic wins in program history somewhat in check long enough to refocus on Sunday’s game?
Andy Hutchins from Alligator Army did an incredibly in-depth Q&A session with us - read it to get his thoughts and insights on Sunday’s game. But we’re ready for this one. And we hope you are too.
And no matter the outcome of this game, it’s been one incredible ride for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
