As it turns out, RJ Roderick couldn’t wait after all to make his college decision.

Weeks after the Cane Bay (S.C.) safety/athlete said that he’d wait until the end of the summer to commit to his college of choice, he found himself on campus for Will Muschamp’s first camp session of the season. Hours later, he ended up giving Muschamp and South Carolina football his commitment, the Gamecocks’ seventh in the class of 2018.

Roderick is being recruited as a safety, but the 6’0”, 207-pound man is a multi-talented individual. He also saw time under center for the Cobras and threw for 613 yards and five touchdowns as a junior. Roderick also ran for 1778 yards on 229 carries, getting it into the end zone an eye-popping 23 times. A player of that kind of versatility on the Gamecocks’ roster opens up a great deal of options as to how they’ll use him, although it appears that he’ll see the bulk of his time in the backfield.

Are their other commits to come out of Muschamp’s camp before the weekend wraps up? We’ll see what happens.
