Darius English

RS Junior
Defensive End
6' 6" / 225 lbs
Powder Springs, Ga

Recruitment

3-star recruit. Ranked the 22nd-best weakside defensive end in the country and the 15th-best player in Georgia by Rivals. Offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, ECU, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan State, Mississippi State, UNC Ole Miss, UCF, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.

College Career

English has played in 27 games in his college career and has 7 starts. He's logged 46 tackles, with five tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He took a medical redshirt in 2012 following a wrist injury. Played in all 13 games in 2013, starting one. Finished the season with 19 tackles, including 2.5 for loss and a forced fumble in the season opener. In 2014, English started the first six games of the season and played in 12; he earned his first career solo sack against Georgia.

2015 Outlook

English is currently looking to begin the season on the third team behind defensive ends Marquavius Lewis and Cedrick Cooper. He's had a standout offseason and made enough noise to suggest some competition between English and Cooper as the primary backup DE.

Trivia

English made his first career start against Kentucky in 2013, replacing an injured starter. Which player was English tasked with filling in for (hint: he was kind of a big deal)?
