South Carolina picked up its first commitment in the 2018 class as they landed Greeleyville (S.C.) C.E. Murray’s Darius Rush to the fold today. Rush, a 6’2”, 172-pounder, is showing as an athlete on the recruiting databases, having played at a variety of positions in high school. He was on campus for junior day this past Saturday and was impressed enough to say yes to Will Muschamp and his staff.
A dream come true... I am committed to the University of South Carolina. #SpursUp pic.twitter.com/QZTJxYtkKU

Rush recorded 622 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on 81 carries as a junior, an impressive 7.7 yards per carry. He also hauled in 14 catches for 228 yards and three scores, along with 36 tackles and two interceptions on defense. Along with that, he’s seen time on special teams - not only as a returner, but as a punter as well. The Gamecocks are adding somebody with a great deal of versatility; I’m interested in seeing how the team uses him.
Rush spoke about his recruitment in a chat with GamecockCentral.com:
"I grew up a Gamecock...It's where I grew up, family went there, I just love being a Gamecock since I was little. It's exciting. I always wanted to be a Gamecock and my dream came true today."
GamecockCentral also mentions that Rush has played golf, baseball, basketball and run track as well at Murray. Basically, if it’s an organized sport, he’s played it.
