South Carolina vs. N.C. State: Week 1 Injury Report

The Gamecocks are largely in good shape, but depth in the secondary could be a concern.

The South Carolina Gamecocks enter their matchup against N.C. State in the good health you’d expect for a season opener, with one exception: depth in the secondary has been nearly eaten alive by the injury bug. Former and oft-injured cornerback Akeem Auguste will guide you through who’s in and who’s out for the Gamecocks on Saturday.

Zero Augustes - Full go!

One Augustes - Should play, but won't start

Two Augustes - Game-time decision

Three Augustes - Questionable

Four Augustes - Unlikely

Five Augustes - Out

Randrecous Davis - Five Auguste heads

The redshirt freshman receiver has been battling hamstring issues throughout camp. He'll sit out the opener and could miss more time, depending on the severity.

Tavyn Jackson - Five Auguste heads

The freshman cornerback has also been struggling with hamstring woes. Like Davis, we'll just have to see when he's ruled ready for game action.

Jaylin Dickerson - Five Auguste heads

The Gamecocks lost this promising freshman defensive back for the season when he injured his shoulder during fall camp and needed surgery.

Steven Montac - One Auguste head

Yet another young defensive back hampered by a foot issue. Fortunately, Muschamp sounded hopeful about Montac’s chances to play on Tuesday:

Notable for N.C. State

Veteran cornerback Mike Stevens is out with a lower-leg injury that could sideline him for as many as four weeks. It's a blow to the Wolfpack secondary, which was already considered the weakest link of an otherwise strong defense.
