And Away We Go--Expansion Is Upon Us...
Colorado has joined the Pac-10, which will surely start a chain of reactions leading to EXPANSIONACOLYPSE. Expect more soon. I would expect that more on the Nebraska front will be the first to come out (this is probably already a done deal if Colorado is so quick to move), and then we'll hear about the Texas schools heading to the "Pac-16."
On the subject of the "Pac-16," BTW, it appears that the conference may be shooting for two automatic BCS bids. Doesn't that make the Pac-16 two conferences in some sense, just with a more central governing (i. e., marketing) body? My head hurts...

Yeah, they don't even want to play a championship game.
What’s up with that?

Without a championship game, this is an even more blatant attempt to hoard and control the money in college sports.
Why not just create a national ‘super league’ if you’re going to be so blatant?

The whole thing does kind of reek of BS, doesn't it?

The more likely result of making a play for 2 BCS bids
is the other schools pass an NCAA rule mandating a championship game for any conference with 12 or more members. You know the SEC, ACC, non-BCS leagues, and Big 12 leftovers will go for this. Even if the Big Ten and Big East votes nay, that wouldn’t be enough to stop it.
