Mason Harris
Redshirt Sophomore Defensive End
6'3", 218 lbs.
Fort Oglethorpe, GA

3 stars, 43rd=ranked weakside defensive end in the 2011 class
Other offers: Miami and Middle Tennessee State

College Career:
Harris redshirted in 2011 and saw limited action on special teams in 2012.

2012 Stats:
6 games played, 3 tackles

2013 Outlook:
Harris is currently listed behind Chaz Sutton on the depth chart, and will likely be utilized as a situational player on passing downs in the Gamecocks' rabbits package, in which Lorenzo Ward puts three or four defensive ends on the field in obvious passing situations. At just 218 lbs., Harris' small frame limits his potential role in the defense.

Mason Harris has been named to the Chuan Gresham Award Watch List.

Possible Todd Ellis play-by-play call:
Murray receives the shotgun snap, fakes the handoff to Gurley, and BOOM! Mason Harris comes out of nowhere to sack Aaron Murray. I'll tell you what, Tommy, Masson Harris just hit Aaron Murray so hard that he could stuff his crumpled remains into a mason jar and market him as an artisanal red and black jam.
