Atlanta Memories are Sour | GamecockCentral.com
What the heck is the rubber-chicken circuit? Did I not get an invite to TRC's Christmas party this year?
That slap in the face was intensified by a long offseason, made longer every time one of them got wind of coach Steve Spurrier talking about it during the rubber-chicken circuit. Not like he could talk about the Clemson win after the game after that was so disappointing.

Elliott brings stability to Gamecocks' line | ESPN
I'm not sure how a guy in his first year adds "stability" to the unit he's coaching, (after all, he could be poached before National Signing Day just like any other coach), but at least Chris Low is giving Shawn Elliot some well-deserved props.
Ponder or Manuel: USC Has To Stop Both | GamecockCentral.com
Christian Ponder will play. Mark it down. No way he misses the Chick-fil-A Bowl. And that worries me quite a bit.
Gamecocks' Lattimore familiar to Seminoles | 'NOLE CALL
Is Steve Spurrier bigger than The Beatles? Blasphemy!
FSU is looking for its first 10-win season since 2003. South Carolina, meanwhile, is looking for its first 10-win season since 1984. Dawkins remembers when Steve Spurrier arrived in Columbia, S.C., in 2005, and he joked that the Head Ball Coach had a heavenly impact.
"It was like Jesus came down to earth," Dawkins said. "It definitely was. A lot of hype around it. "They did pretty good this year. In the past, they haven't really exceeded expectations. This year they really stepped it up."
Ranking the SEC coaching jobs in 2010 | ESPN
Chris Low gives us the "official" rankings of the head coaches in the SEC. The Gamecocks getting rocked by Auburn in the SECCG is good enough for 3rd. I'm guessing the SEC coaches vote shook out a little differently since a) all the other coaches think Cam Newton should be ineligible, b) everyone who has actually met Bobby Petrino sees him for the snake in the grass that he is, and c) coaches in the SEC are more familiar with the historical trials and tribulations of South Carolina football.

Gray Military Academy Becoming Reality | GamecockCentral.com
Methinks this might be more aptly named "Gray-shirt Military Academy." Snark aside, check out the former Gamecocks on the list of football coaches (Phil Petty, Corey Jenkins, and Rob DeBoer). It's a veritable Gamecocks reunion.

Four S.C. teams in preseason Top 40 | The Herald Online
We all know that USC came in with a preseason ranking of 14, but did you know that three other teams from our state can also be found within the preseason top 35? Clemson is ranked 4th in what is surely the most head-scratching of all the rankings, followed by Coastal Carolina (24) and College of Charleston (35). Not too bad.

Furman Downs South Carolina, 91-75 | Gamecocks Online
Uh-oh! Where did that come from? It just wouldn't be the Darrin Horn era without an embarrassing loss to an in-state mid-major?
Bruce Ellington scored a career-high 31 points, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina (7-3) dropped a 91-75 decision to Furman (8-2) Wednesday night at Timmons Arena in Greenville.

Gamecocks Soar Past Bulldogs 67-54 | Gamecocks Online
Hi-oh! Where did that come from?
South Carolina wrapped up its pre-holiday schedule with a 67-54 win over Butler in women's basketball action at Colonial Life Arena. Three Gamecocks (6-5) finished in double figures with sophomore guard Ieasia Walker narrowly missing a double-double with her 17 points and nine rebounds, both team highs. South Carolina used a big run at the start of each half to take command and hit free throws down the stretch to hold off the charging Bulldogs (6-5).

I know Cocky, Esq. will be there.
I, myself, was unable to talk the Mrs. into letting me skip our pre-arranged New Year’s Eve plans. I’ll be there in spirit, and hopefully watching on TV.

Seems that a lot of people aren't going. I guess that's not particularly surprising considering that quite a few people shelled out a lot of money on the SECCG...
and that some have other plans for the new year. Neither of those apply to me, though, and this is going to be one of the few times I’ll be in the South this year, so I’m going to take advantage and go.

I feel so famous
I’m not going to the game but I’ll be watching it in my USF shirt. Hey, it worked most of the season.

I found LOHD's answers in the bowl preview too allegiant.
He pretty much thinks we’ll dominate in all phases, even somewhat in pass defense.

Yeah, he's pretty optimistic.
I like our chances to win, but I think we’re going to be in for a tough game. FSU is a good team, and we definitely have some serious weaknesses.

We are better than FSU.
That doesn’t mean we can’t lose this game. We certainly won’t do ourselves any favors if we can’t occasionally cover a receiver.
