Matt Price Wants You to Give Him the Ball

Matt Price (http://www.thestate.com/2010/06/12/1329604_a1329581/super-regional-usc-vs-coastal.html)

Matt Price was brilliant in two innings of relief to beat Coastal Carolina in game 1. Price came on in the 8th inning with the bases loaded and no outs. He proceeded to strike out two batters and induce the third into a ground out.

The Gamecocks did just enough offensively to secure the win. Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina started neither of their two aces, instead opting for Matt Rein (7-1, 2.97 ERA). Rein lasted just one inning as the Chanticleers burned though seven pitchers on the day. Ace Anthony Meo entered the game for one inning allowing 2 hits and striking out none. I have to assume Coastal will pitch their other ace, Cody Wheeler, in Sunday's game.

Great win for South Carolina. We're now just 1 game away from getting to the CWS. Check out Lefover Hot Dog for a more comprehensive post game wrap-up.

Go 'Cocks!

Great game.

Looks like we managed to have a couple of fans in the stands. Is that Leonardo Dicaprio I see in the background of your picture?

That's epic what he did in the eighth.

Will go down as one of the great moments in Carolina lore.

Scott Wingo’s double play made Sports Center’s top 10. He came in at #4.
