In other college sports news, the Pac-10 reconfiguration gets even dicier, as the Texas State Legislature pushes for Baylor to be included in place of Colorado.
I know this isn’t related to USC, but any potential realignment scenario ultimately affects the SEC.

Thanks for the link.
It’s definitely relevant; I just have trouble keeping up with everything sometimes. It’s been a busy morning.

There’s also this steamy piece from the Denver Post, which concerns the hypocrisy of “the same educators who decry the evils of a football playoff now peddle their student-athletes like pieces of meat.” The article is a jab at the idea of Colorado joining a conference where its nearest opponent is over 600 miles away, and hardly a person has even blinked about it.

It does strike me as curious that the same people that are willing to undermine the nature of student athleticism by toying with the idea of lucrative super conferences...
are the same ones that were unwilling to toy with the even more lucrative idea of a playoff out of fealty to the student athleticism paradigm.

It just furthers the bottom line that, at the end of the day, it’s all about the control of money. Everything else is politics.
It’s one of the biggest reasons I’ve been a playoff advocate for years now. The only argument the bowl crowd has that I like is the ‘regular season’ argument, but even that goes out the window for me when an undefeated SEC champ like Auburn gets shafted. And, as I’ve expressed other places, I’d rather see a conference champion playoff system that still gives a lot of importance to the regular season (i.e. you’d still have to go at least 9-3 or 10-2, not 9-7 like the NFL), but allows for more interesting OOC games instead of Mega State U. vs. Cupcake College.
