Shane Beamer is petty. I mean that in the best possible sense. At his press conference Tuesday, Beamer gave answers that sounded amicable to Fredo(Mark Stoops), but really wasn't. It was perfectly petty. Don't believe me? Let's review his answers, and I'll translate what he meant.

Question: "Have you talked to Mark Stoops?"

That friends, is what we call a yes or no answer. But Shane did not leave it to that, did he? No he gave us the sound bites we wanted to hear.

Quote: "Saw the quote from SEC media days, on Marty and McGee...

How many times have we heard a coach say, "We're just worried about our team," or "I don't really have time to hear everything that's sad" or some other cliche'. Shane was saying, without saying it, "I heard it, and not only that, I remember you guys playing sandstorm in the locker room after the game..." That's petty. Let's continue.

Quote: "I appreciate Coach Stoops saying it wasn't about me..."

Translation: "I don't believe you..."

If Shane had believed what Fredo (Mark Stoops) said he wouldn't have went on, would he?

Quote: " We have great resp... I have great respect for Mark and the Kentucky program.."

Translation: "We respect Kentucky's basketball program. We don't respect Kentucky football, and neither does Calipari.. "

Quote: "When the basketball coach made the comment he made about the football program, Mark said he stays in his lane, so I can't imagine he would have strayed out of his lane to direct a shot at me..."

Translation: "Take your own advice Mark, and stay in your lane..."

Quote: "In fact two or three of his assistants came up to me during pregame warmups to comment on the culture of our program, and how impressed they were with it..."

Translation: "Your coaches think our culture is better than Kentucky's, and they want to come work for me..."

Quote: "It is what it is, he got his program to worry about, and I got my program to worry about..."

Translation: "We're going to kick your tail on October 8 in Lexington..."

So there you have it. What the New Petty King was actually saying at the press conference. October 8 can't come soon enough.
