Interesting Statistics Through the First Five

SCORING: The Gamecocks have outscored their opponents 158 - 94, averaging 31.6 points per game while giving up an average of 18.8.

RUSHING: Oh, what a difference it makes!  After years of struggling to get the ground game going, South Carolina is averaging 156.8 yards per game and has 11 rushing TDs.  Thank you Marcus Lattimore and Shawn Elliot.

PASSING: Stephen Garcia has been very accurate this year, completing 72.3% of his passes for 944 yards.  His TD:INT ratio is 8:3, and two of those picks came off of balls that hit A1 in the hands.

TOTAL OFFENSE: Carolina is averaging 6 yards per play, and 374.4 yards per game.

TOUCHDOWN, GAMECOCKS!: USC has 21 TDs to its opponents' 10.

THE RED ZONE: In 20 opportunities in the land of the same, South Carolina has scored 19 times; 17 of those being TDs.

ON TOP EARLY: The Gamecocks have outscored opponents 56-16 in the first quarter, and 100-38 in the first half, so far this season.

SACKS: The defense has 19 sacks for a loss of 109 yards.  Opposing defenses have 13 sacks against the Cocks for a loss of 70 yards.

INTERCEPTIONS: Though we haven't had as many drops as years gone by, I'd still like to see this number increase: 3 INTs for USC and 6 INTs for the opposition.  The first number, of course.

ALSHON JEFFERY: 34 receptions, 624 yards, 18.4 ypr, 4 TDs, 125 ypg.  Wow.

MARCUS LATTIMORE: Rushing - 107 attempts, 459 yards, 4.3 ypa, 8 TDs, 91.8 ypg.   Receiving - 8 receptions, 81 yards, 10.1 ypr, 1 TD, 16.1 ypg.   Latti is averaging 107.9 ypg of total offense and has 9 of the team's 21 TDs.  Wow, again.

STEPHEN GARCIA: Passing - 171.0 EFF, 73/101, 944 yards, 8 TDs, 3 INTs, 188.8 ypg.   Rushing - 42 attempts, 94 yards, 2.2 ypa, 2 TDs, 18.8 ypg.

SPENCER LANNING: PATs - 20/21.   Field Goals - 4/5, (36) (42) 51 (24) (51).   Punting - 15 attempts, 691 yards, 46.1 avg, long of 58 yards, 6 punts of 50+ yards, 4 punts inside the 20 yard line.

DEFENSIVE LEADERS: Devonte Holloman, Stephon Gilmore, and Josh Dickerson lead the team in total tackles with 32, 31, and 27, respectively.  Additionally, Stephon Gilmore has 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 INT returned 80 yards for a TD, 2 pass break-ups, 2 pass deflections, and 1 fumble recovery.
