Gamecocks Work Out Thursday | Gamecocks Online
Coach Johnson said the difference for the Florida offense versus other teams was their speed. "The thing about it is if you make a false step or you put your eyes on the wrong thing, they're just so fast. If you put different kids in that Florida offense, it kind of looks like another offense," continued Johnson. "But they're so fast and they execute so well and they're obviously well-coached. It's just the speed of it and the execution of it that's just phenomenal."

SEC East Championship Preview: Gators Vs. Gamecocks | Leftover Hot Dog
I could really go for some great special teams play right about now.
Special teams play a huge factor as the Gators will look to Chas Henry to handle the punting and kicking duties once again. Henry missed a last second field goal earlier in the season to lose the Miss. State game but redeemed himself 2 weeks ago against Georgia. Carolina will need to be aggressive on special team, as Florida will look to take advantage of every kickoff and punt as another scoring opportunity.

Could this be the spark we've all been looking for? At this point our problems in the secondary are just as much a function of confidence as ability.

I don't see how that's much of a shake up in the secondary.
All those guys have given up big plays. Moving one to another safety position, or starting Swearinger, isn’t a real change. I guess you have to at least appear to be making an effort if you’re the coach though.

It could actually help
Devonte is probably our best Safety, and hes been playing every defensive snap for the last several games. A fresh Holloman could be what the safeties need to keep up the whole game.

Holloman is our best safety?
If that’s true we are so screwed. I’m not trying to put the guy down too much. He’s a fine athlete, a lot better than me, but he misses big play after big play, almost like it’s intentional. We don’t have a “best safety”. That’s not something we should ever utter about our defense. What is Damario Jeffery doing at spur? Doesn’t he just backup Allen? Maybe they should’ve tried him out at safety. I don’t know, I’m not in the practices and don’t see how good they are. All I know is Jeffery was a four star recruit at safety.

Gamecockrock has a point about Holloman.
I think the fact that he’s playing literally every snap is really wearing him out. Strong safety is a tough position to play without a backup. You spend a lot of time wearing yourself out while running and also get hit a lot in run support. What we’re asking of Holloman is too much for one guy to handle well and still play at a high level.
I agree that I wish we could find some way to get someone else on the field at safety. It seems like we have too many athletes not to be able to give Holloman more support.

thats what im saying though man
he plays every defensive snap… nobody can go out and look like a stud when they are doing that.

I'd agree if all his mistakes were athletic, but he makes a lot of mental mistakes too.
Unless he has mental fatigue, I don’t see how he is better than any of the other defensive backs. In fact, I kind of always thought he was the worst of the bunch, closely followed by Auguste. They’re all pretty bad though. Again, all way better than me, but still.

Physical fatigue leads to mental fatigue.
No mystery there.

I'm sort of in the middle on the secondary shake up being beneficial.
I hope that it is, but they’ve been so poor in terms of being in position and playing smart football that I don’t know if anything will help right now. It’d be wonderful if you were right, Gamecockrock.

That's what confused me about the switch.
Our guys seem to be having more mental errors than problems athletically. Switching them up now should just create more mental errors. I’ve said before it can’t get worse, but I wonder now if it will.
