Auburn vs South Carolina: SEC Championship Game Preview | Saturday Down South
Auburn will be playing for their first BCS Championship game appearance, and South Carolina will be fighting for their first SEC Championship. It would be hard to imagine the SEC Championship game could match last week’s Iron Bowl for excitment, but with so much on the line for both teams, it should be a great game.

Bowl Projections Week Thirteen | Leftover Hot Dog
The General has us going to the Capital One Bowl. I'm hearing on the local sports radio that we're a lock for the Outback. Is there anyone who actually wants that scenario to play out. On the bright side the same radio personality said we would be facing Penn State.

Of course Haney throws in his to cents. He seems to think MSU to the Outback and USC to Atlanta is a more likely scenario. I have to agree.

Truth
In 33 seasons as USC’s only men’s soccer coach, the bar to attain success has been set high. When your teams have reached the NCAA Final Four twice, played once for a national championship and participated in 19 NCAA tournaments, nothing short of outstanding is considered acceptable.

D.L. Moore
We’re all D.L. Moore fans, and I’m pumped that the punt coverage team (at least) is showing signs of renewed vim and vigor, but I thought that particular block was a little gratiutous at that point in the game. I’d rather D.L. blew up one of their gunners next time.
If the shoe was on the other foot (i.e., Spencer got laid out like that when he wasn’t truly engaged in the play), I’d have been p.o.’d.

In most games outside of the rivalry, I'd agree
But I think it’s fair game within the rivalry, and I bet you most Tiger fans would agree. If you’re the punter, playing at home against a hated rival, and you allow yourself to be a part of the play, you’d better have your head on a swivel. As long as you have an orange paw (or whatever your rival’s logo may be) on your helmet, you’re subject to a year’s build-up of vitriol just like everyone else. Hits like that are what make rivalries great. A little ungentlemanly? Absolutely. But who says rivalries are supposed to be gentlemanly?
Yikes, I sound like some washed-up lummox working for ESPN…truthfully, I see what you’re saying. A little superfluous, and it didn’t prove much in the way of toughness on DL’s part. But while I’d be miffed if it happened to Spencer, but I’d probably think “Well that was annoying, but I’d want our guys to do the same thing.” Just my two cents…

I like the tenacity, period.
If it’s a legal hit, not a low blow, not a shot in the back, then I don’t care. Remember the stuff with the Arkansas game and that hit? Our players shouldn’t be chastised for playing hard to the whistle.
Sorry, Kickers, when you put that uniform on and step on the field, you’re still a football player. You better be ready.

Ive been bellyaching about punt coverage
being mediocre so I’m not disrespecting the tenacity nor am I whining about Moore nor am I saying punters should wear a no-crackback jersey. Just to clarify.
It was a clean hit. I just think it was unnecessary … any punt coverage team Cock should be able to lay out the punter. To me, it’s sort of like Kramer studying the art of Ka-Ra-Te. Now I’m dominating the dojo … we’re all at the same skill level, Jerry!.

Here's something interesting...
The betting line for the SECCG has come off the board. It opened yesterday at Auburn -7 and fell to Auburn -5 before coming down. Is this related to Garcia’s “injury” or to new developments with Cam Newton, perhaps? I have had a hard time imagining the latter since there’s no way the SEC would act before their biggest event of the year, but it’s very puzzling. I guess I could be over-thinking it, though; maybe Vegas just wasn’t satisfied with the early money. I have to admit that I thought Auburn -7 was a bit much.

Black Heart, Gold Pants
Holy Cow. (shout out to Jacksonville Jaguar’s radio announcer for his enormous G-rated calling of the winning Hail Mary two weeks ago). When you mentioned being invaded by BHGP, I got curious and surfed on over there to check out what’s going on. You’re not kidding. They had 1,900+ comments in their open gameday thread for the Floyd of Rosedale game with Minnesota. I wasn’t reading this blog 2 years ago, so I don’t really know what was going on when we played Iowa in the Outback Bowl.
“Hallelujah, Holy S***! Where’s the Tylenol?”
Which gets me to wondering, what sort of activity does the GABA have when compared to the rest of the SEC?

The BHGP's invasion was crazy.
Back then, GABA didn’t get much traffic at all. I was the only regular front-page writer (C & F had recently started TSK) and there were only a couple of regular commenters (Feathered Warrior was one of them). Then, hours after the bowls were announced, we had threads with hundreds of comments from the Iowa fanbase. It was…interesting.
Today’s GABA has average activity compared to the other SEC blogs. We’re still a bit behind some of the really popular blogs like Dawg Sports, A Sea of Blue, and Roll ‘Bama Roll, but we’re holding our own. You can look at traffic numbers by clicking on the “Sitemeter” at the bottom of the front page.
