Darrin Horn picked up a commitment today from big man Carlton Geathers. Per The State's Phil Kornblut:
Carlton Geathers (6-10) of Carvers Bay committed to South Carolina on Sunday at the conclusion of his official visit, his mother said Sunday afternoon.
"We had a great visit. He really enjoyed it," Mrs. Geathers said.
USC offered Geathers last week after it was announced that Dominique Archie would not be given a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. That gave Darrin Horn another scholarship for this class.
I like this move. We had nothing to lose and everything to gain by signing Geathers, and while he's definitely a project and it doesn't sound like he'll be able to contribute anytime soon, he does have the frame to be a decent big man if he puts it together. With our current lack of game breaking big men, I'd say it's a wise gamble. Welcome aboard, big fella.
