Sunday News and Notes: Gamecocks Sweep Hogs

Unless you live under a rock, you know what the big news today is: the Gamecocks completed an improbable sweep of the vaunted Arkansas Razorbacks at formidable Baum Stadium. Whit Merrifield was the hero today, hitting two HRs, including the decisive shot that put us ahead late in the game. The series win against the Hogs sets up a decisive visit next weekend from the Florida Gators for the regular-season SEC Title. One also has to believe that defeating the Gators will net us a berth to host both regionals and super regionals. All in all, heady times all around for the Yardcocks. Any doubts after last weekend's loss to the Kentucky Wildcats should be laid to rest for the time being.
