Monday News and Notes: No National Seed for USC and More

A happy Memorial Day from GABA.

The news today is that NCAA Tournament regional brackets are out. USC, unfortunately, was passed on for the final national seed, which went to Georgia Tech. While that's a dissappointment, you have to be pretty happy about the way our road looks. Our regional bracket includes (2) Virginia Tech, (3) Citadel, and (4) Bucknell. That's a very favorable bracket. Bucknell is a very bad team, and we should be able to get away with pitching a Sunday starter against them, thus saving Blake Cooper and Sam Dyson for the real games. Virginia Tech may be tough, but if we can get a favorable pitching matchup due to seeding, I think we can take them.

We're paired with Coastal Carolina's regional, which also includes College of Charleston, N. C. State, and Stony Brook. I like our chances against any of those teams, even if we have to travel to the beach to take on Coastal. I actually think the 'Pack have a good shot at coming out of that one to play us in Columbia. They're a hot team right now.
