College World Series Championship Game Two Open Thread: South Carolina vs. UCLA

I hate to say it, ‘cause those players have trained and played hard, but the only reason I’d care about who won the college world series is if we win and it somehow causes a potential football recruit to respect our overall athletic program enough to come here.

I’ve noticed a lot of people around where I live all of a sudden becoming real interested in college baseball, for some inexplicable reason. I think they’re only interested ‘cause they want to feel pride in their state, and I don’t think they really care anything about baseball in general. Since pride is a sin in my religion, I just have absolutely no reason to care. All I care about is the strategy and pure joy of watching a competitive game of football. Baseball strategy is … pretty shallow.

But you’re undoubtedly wrong to imply that there are a lot of bandwagon baseball fans around here. Carolina has always had a strong following for baseball. And while baseball may have its defects as a sport, it’s fun to watch in my opinion. To each his own, though.

Football beats baseball by far in every way

But, college baseball is fun and much more enjoyable to watch than pro ball; for one thing, for the most part those players are true student athletes; some will play in the minors but most will not make it to the majors. I am not the biggest baseball fan, but have watched and enjoyed the desire and will my LSU Tigers had to have to win those titles games at Omaha. It took a while for football to catch up, but Tiger baseball certainly helped during the early 90’s lean football years—bad memories of the Archer-Hallman-Dinardo years are already coming to mind. As for football, of course it is better. However, the CWS beats any football that is being played right now. IMO

the CWS beats any football game… especially when your team is in it and winning. And dont think im a baseball homer anyone out there, cause I do find football more fun TO WATCH overall… but college baseball is hell of a lot of fun to watch, and Baseball is one of the funnest sports to play.
