Furman Prepares To Face AP 13th-Ranked South Carolina On Saturday | Furman
Make no mistake, this is a ravenge game. To wit:

The clash will mark the first meeting between the Paladins and Gamecocks since Oct. 16, 1982, when Furman under head coach Dick Sheridan stunned USC, 28-23, on the strength of two touchdown passes by quarterback David Charpia and a blocked punt recovery in the end zone by Ernest Gibson, who later spent six years in the NFL.

-and-

Furman is South Carolina's oldest football foe, having whipped USC, 44-0, on Dec. 24, 1892, in Charleston in the Gamecocks' first collegiate football game.

Our boy is #4 out of 5 on Chris Low's list.

Yeah, he’s only a freshman, but he’s going to put up big numbers for the Gamecocks all season. He has 236 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his first two games, and he did it on a big stage last Saturday against Georgia.

TICKETS

Game no-shows decrease | The Daily Gamecock
The number of students who had tickets but did not enter Williams-Brice decreased from around 1,200 to 646. This still seems pretty high to me. What are these people doing?

Obama honors champs | The Post and Courier
How great is this exchange?

After exchanging greetings with pitchers John Taylor and Jose Mata, Obama started to walk away when Taylor shouted out: "Mr. President, what do you think about Manny (Ramirez) going to the White Sox?"

Obama, a former U.S. senator from Illinois, is a huge fan of sports teams from his hometown of Chicago.

The president stopped, shook his head and delivered his verdict on last month's trade of the slugger from the Los Angeles Dodgers to his beloved Chicago White Sox. "It's too late to help us," the president said. "Maybe we should pick up one of you guys."

The men's team dropped a game to Brown 1-0. More evidence that this is not a championship ball club. Carolina is now 2 and 1 on the year.
