Sunday News and Notes: 2011 NFL Draft Preview and More

Never too early: A first look at the first round of the 2011 NFL draft - Russ Lande - College Football - Sporting News. A writer for the Sporting News makes some very early predictions on the draft, and he sees Jarriel King going in the first round. I'll have to say that I find that to be a pretty bizarre prediction. King is quite a physical specimen and has a lot of potential, but he's yet to become an effective player in his time here. Maybe he will this year, and if he does, he probably will be a high pick. But there are a lot of ifs in there, more than I would like if I were making this kind of prediction.

If any Gamecock were to go this high in the 2011 draft, I would think it would be Weslye Saunders. Many scouts have him as the best senior TE in the country this year.

The Post and Courier - Triple play: South Carolina slips past Clemson - Charleston SC - postandcourier.com. This is a bit of a Ron Morris-esque provocation piece, but interesting nonetheless. I'll have to be honest, though; I refuse to say we're passing Clemson in football until we manage to win two games in a row against them.
